PROJECT / AREPO

Arepo.

A massively parallel code for gravitational N-body and hydrodynamics simulations, including cosmological setups.

Locally verified on 2026-10-10 with SNT3 0.9.3: 47 Arepo tests and 21 subtests passed against the pinned source, including recorded output plans. The mhd_shock_tube build and smoke run completed on macOS on 2026-10-09. Scientific-result validation and other platforms remain separate checks.

THE SCIENTIFIC CODE

About Arepo.

Arepo follows gas with an adaptive moving Voronoi mesh while also treating gravitationally interacting particles. It is used for problems with a wide range of spatial and time scales, including galaxy formation.

Why it belongs in the Hub

Its examples combine compile-time choices, runtime parameters, units, and initial-condition assets. That makes Arepo a useful test of whether one DIPL contract can expose scientifically meaningful controls while an adapter still produces the files the solver expects.

EVALUATED DIPL MODELS

Parameter references.

Generated with SNT's Brief++ reporter from the DIPL projects in this pinned Hub bundle. Each report shows effective values, units, descriptions, source history, and schema details for one example.

16REPORTS

These reports describe the bundled example values. A personal run with --override-file can have different values; inspect its environment.diph5 or generate a report from that snapshot. Arepo source revision: 351aa8111a32e2e7433866bf8367ab7eba155d39.

This adapter records its resolved native mappings in each generated environment.diph5. The saved plan can be inspected and replayed without the original DIPL profile. Some projects still need their pinned source files for replay.
